Looking for a fun, philanthropic event this evening? Head down to Salty's on Alki Beach to sample a collection of Syrah from nearly 40 Pacific Northwest boutique wineries and enjoy the best view of Seattle's skyline from the Puget Sound. Known for flavors of bold spices and rich fruit, Syrahs have a silky finish that leaves wine enthusiasts wanting a little more. Appropriately named, the 11th Annual Sip Sexy Syrah event benefits FareStart, a job training and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged individuals who are interested in pursuing careers in the culinary industry.
Salty's Chef Jeremy McLachlan will have a variety of imaginative appetizers for guests to nibble, including Southern Smoked Turkey with Jezebel Sauce and Grilled Zucchini Succotash with Giant Italian Beans, to compliment the powerful and versatile Syrah varieties. A dark skinned grape, Syrah is prominent in areas like France, South America and many areas of the United States. Its full-body flavor is primarily used for dry red table wine, which can be varietal or blended. Both Syrahs and Syrah blends will be present this evening and a prestigious panel of experts from the wine community will judge each variety and ultimately select six winners
Following Sip Sexy Syrah tonight is Dinner With The Winners on April 18, a six-course meal featuring the six winning wines and their makers at Salty's. The winemakers and chefs will talk about the wine and food pairings presented to diners that evening. Both events require tickets; claim yours now to get your wine on with other wine aficionados. Visit FareStart to get tickets online or call 206-267-6223.
